What if I’d been on it
One day Nasreddin Hodja loses his donkey. He looks for it everywhere and asks around but whatever he does, he can’t find his donkey.
Rather than pining over the loss as expected, he counts his blessings.
His neightbours say:
-“Hodja! Take it easy but you’ve lost a donkey after all. What’s to be so grateful for?”
-“Oh, dear neighbours, who should be grateful but me? What if I’d been on the donkey?”
